How to Truly Live Every Day as if It’s Your Last November 8, 2016

For me, after my dad passed on, I had to move on. I had to watch my own mom start sleeping alone in her room. I had to start my first year in college that very month itself!

Why is this still a solid piece of advice then?

Because we hear about it all the time from people who are truly positive in life.

They are happy and living life to the fullest.

Are you?

I am doing it for sure!

Maybe it’s time to discard this ridiculous notion of living like it’s your last day then…

and start creating an EPIC life for yourself TODAY.

I say, forget about thinking that you may die tomorrow.

Accept the present. Embrace everything that is going on around you.

Recognize that you have problems, but realize that they aren’t going to last forever and that a better future awaits.

Then it’s time to FEEL ALIVE

We are all human, a great ball of emotions. And what better way of actually charging up your life with the great emotions?

This is a guide I personally came up with from my own journey on feeling alive:

1) Tell a loved one you love her, straight from your mouth.

No texting, no writing or any of that “silence which you understand is love”.

Say it.

And don’t fumble.

I did this for my mom, because I felt I didn’t in a long time. I was nervous as hell doing it.

After that, I felt awesome. And this awesome feeling actually sticks for a long time.

So do it.

2) Stand up for yourself

Is there someone out there in life who constantly makes you feel upset? Your boss who belittles you? Some annoying friend who makes snide remarks?

Did you know that most of the negativity comes from the repressed energy you hold back in yourself?

I knew that.

Before my father’s death, I always tried to do the “right” things in life, which meant I never talked back, or fought back.

I went home, angry.

It was on the day of my father’s death where I realized I had to watch out for myself and care for myself more.

So stand up for yourself now.

The next time someone puts you down, stand your ground, be firm and let him or her know how you feel.

It may or may not solve the actual problem, but releasing your repressed energy would make you come alive.

3) Find your passion

Passion isn’t just a hobby or a pastime.

It’s a kind of love that burns so deep it sets you alive.

Passion allows you to feel that everything is right in the world.

There are many people out there who follows their heart, no matter what. And it’s brought them to great heights.

So find your passion. Try out all sorts of things in life until something clicks with your heart.

I have Bboying (or breakdancing to you). I may not be the best, but knowing that I’ve something I love so much in life makes me feel I am doing something right.

4) Do a good deed

When was the last time you actively told yourself that you wanted to make someone else’s day better?

Try it out.

A friend once told me that helping someone and adding value to his or her life is the greatest gift and reward one can ever have in life.

When you want to pass some form of positivity and happiness to others, the results can be amazing.

5) Do something you never thought you’d do

Because life can be an adventure. You just need to get out of the ordinary.

That’s not to say you should be extreme by becoming a minimalist or “do something which scares you every day” like others advocate.

Start small.

It could be something minor like taking a new route to work. I get a kick out of that myself!

You’d be surprised with the things you discover for yourself.

6) Now, realize that life is short

And you will be living every day.

It took a view of my own father’s corpse on his bed to realize that (that’s how it happened).

I am telling you now, you don’t have to go through what I did to realize life is short.

It doesn’t matter if you know today is your last day or not.

Just live.
