Mr. Edmond Jerome Gerald Sr. departed this life on Tuesday December 18, 2018, at the age of sixty, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Lumberton, North Carolina. During his lifetime, he became a wonderful son, dedicated Arm forces (Navy) Man, a respected Public Safety Officer, a beloved brother, a devoted husband, a loving father, a caring grandfather and a trusted friend.

Edmond was one of six children born to the late Patrick Rochelle Gerald and the late  Evelyn Richardson Gerald on May 22, 1958. Edmond attended Sunday School and Sunday Church services regularly as a young boy and was baptized at an early age.   He graduated from Fairmont High School and afterwards enlisted in the United States Navy.  He served 20 years before he retired, honorably.  Upon returning home from the navy he became a Correctional Officer at the Department of Correction in Columbus County North Carolina and worked there many years.

Edmond married Valerie Sibert and they remained happy until his untimely death.  He made it a point to be well informed of the current events, politics, and sports and could have input in just about any conversation. He was very opinionated and strongly voiced his opinion.  He had many heated conversations with his family, that ended up with tear jerking laughter.  To know him was to love him.

Edmond was preceded in death by his parents, Rochelle and Evelyn, his sisters Vickie and Sonya.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his dedicated and loving wife, Valerie; his children: Michael, Edmond (E.J.) Jr. Natalie, Rico, Lance, and Carolyn.  He will be sorely missed by his brothers; Max, Patrick,  Darion, Reginald, Gary and his sister Sharon; 8 Grandchildren; uncles, Alexander, Edmond C, Ponce and Tegusta ; and a host of cousins and friends.

You will be sorely missed…..but the wonderful memories created over the span of 35+ years will always bring joy to my soul.

I will always be indebted to you for making me the person I am today. Your wisdom, wit and candor will continually resonant within me and everyone you touched. You were a true friend and shipmate, something that I’ll always be proud of.

You’re in God’s Navy now because he needed a good IS–serve him well,,, you were definitely one of the best!

You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten!

I’m so sorry for your loss. If this can be comforting to you, just know that he is no longer suffering (Ecclesiastes 9:5) and now he, as well as others who have died, awaits the wonderful resurrection that Jehovah God has promised (Acts 24:15). I hope this message brings you comfort
