On Saturday, March 16, 2019, our beloved Elder James Timothy Monroe, Jr., entered into eternal rest. He was born on November 24, 1958 in Oxford, North Carolina to the late James Timothy Monroe, Sr, and Louise Clyburn Monroe. He was the fourth born child to this union.
James graduated from Fairgrove High School in 1977. James joined the United States Army, for a tour of three years. His work history also included 20 years at Converse, in Lumberton NC. His passion also included long distance truck driving.
James accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at an early age. He was a devoted, faithful, and loyal member of Increasing Word Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Ricky & Senior Co-Pastor Linda Bethea, in Fayetteville, NC. He drove the church van to ensure members had a way to and from church at all times, he was an usher, an armor barrier, parking lot attendant, and any duties that needed to be fulfilled.
As a result of his dynamic spirit, and pleasant personality James was loved by many. His love, dedication, loyalty, commitment left a legacy to be remembered and admired. The children immediately were attached to his gentle spirit. He was called Mr. Paul and Papa Paul by his family, and loved ones. James was a good and faithful servant to his church. He loved his Pastor Apostle Ricky & Linda Bethea, and Increasing Word Ministries Church family.
He was joined in union to Evangelist Joyce Ann Monroe on November 24, 2011 at Increasing Word Ministries. He was called Mr. Paul by his loving wife and Papa Paul by his family, and Uncle Paul by Eliana.
James leaves to cherish his love, laughs, life, and legacy forever to his loving wife Joyce Ann Monroe, his children: Sherell & Tysha Shaw, Dora Ann Scott, Katrina Bethea, Woodrow McCormick Jr, Cedric McCormick(Minori), Vickie Fulmore, Alicia McLean, and Sheranda Barnes. His mother, Mrs. Louise Monroe of Rowland, NC Six sisters: Helen Monroe & Mary Monroe (Lumberton NC), Frances Reeves, Vesta Monroe, and Shirlene Miles (John), Annette Hayes (Ronald) Rowland NC. Four brothers: William Monroe (Elaine), Willie Don Monroe (Pennsylvania), Robert Monroe (Lumberton, NC), and Kenneth Monroe (Rock Hill, SC).
Uncles: Dallas Monroe (Eleanor) Marion, SC, Joseph Monroe (Sallie) Greensboro, NC, Ronald Monroe (Hope Mills, NC), and Larry Johnson (Doris) Raleigh, NC
Aunts: Loucilla Moore(Greensboro, NC), Gladys Edge, and Alberta Monroe(Patterson, NJ), Willa Jean Godley and Lillie Mae Reid(Greenville, NC), Geneva Richardson(Ohio), and Debbie Simmons(New York), Viola Bethea(Fairmont, NC), Nannie Blake(Irvington, NJ), and Emma McKellar(Lumberton, NC) and Naomi Williamson (Greensboro, NC)
Mother in law: Martha Bethea Lancaster(Fairmont, NC); Numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Special friends, Shearl Turner, Andrew Grice, Deacon James McMillan, Ms. Janice Faulk and Youth Pastor St Aubyn Smith;  Spiritual Grandparents Apostle Kenneth and Pastor Fodie Smith.

The Home Going Celebration is Saturday at 1:00 PM at Deliverance Temple Word of Faith 5315 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC. The body will lie in state from Noon until the funeral hour. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM til 6:30 PM at Hills Chapel 302 North Main Street in Fairmont . The body will be laid to rest on Wednesday in the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at Noon in Spring Lake, NC
