Answering the call of the Master in the early hours of Friday April 27, 2018 Sister Essie Pearl Crawford exchanged this earthly life for “Eternal” life and peace. Essie Pearl was born on January 13, 1933 in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late Ms. Mary Alice Jones.
Under the spiritual guidance of her mother and grandparents she lead a christian life and joined the church at an early age. She was educated at Rosenwald High School in Fairmont, North Carolina and shortly after graduation she married Cordell Crawford of Fairmont, N. C. This union was blessed with five sons Garcia, Reginald, Willie D. , Arnold and Cordell Jr..
Ms. Essie moved to Connecticut and was employed with Pitney Bowes Electronics where they manufactured postage meters. She worked there for over thirty years. After retirement Ms. Essie found pleasure in spending time with her family and the grand-kids, gardening and reading. She was very supportive of her family and encouraged them to excel. She was a strong minded woman, enjoyed fine things and learned early to be independent. Some of her favorite sayings were “She lived a successful and fulfilling life. “God is Merciful” and “I am thankful I have two feet to put on the floor.”
She was preceded in death by her sons Reginald Crawford and Arnold Crawford, and their father, Cardell Crawford Sr. ; also her mother Mrs. Mary Alice Jones.
She will be sourly missed by those who loved her most; her sons, Garcia T. Crawford (Annie) of San Antonio, Texas, Willie D. Crawford (Nancy) of Niceville, Florida and Cordell Crawford (Gladys) of Fayetteville, N. C. , one Daughter-In-Law; Lisa Crawford, one sister-in-law Ila Belle McDonald of Fairmont, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends .
