James Willie Bethea 72, of Rowland was born November 30, 1945 to the late Mr.Wright Bethea and the late Mrs. Hattie Bell McKinnis Bethea in Rowland, N.C. He received his education from South-side High School in Rowland, completing his GED at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. James was raised in a Christian home and at an early age accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He departed this life on December 21, 2017 in the comfort of his home with Louise his dedicated wife at his side.
James was employed with Old Dominion Freight Company and also was a bus driver with City Transit of Charlotte, NC. His hobby’s were playing baseball in his younger days and chatting and chewing with the boys around town, and last but not least he loved watching sports on television. His conversation often drifted back to his younger days when he was a “Star” baseball player. H loved a good game of baseball and lots of people said that in his young days he was pretty good. The children recalled many weekends at the ball field watching their Dad play baseball. He enjoyed watching sports on TV but never missed a chance to spend time with “The Boys” at Franks or Liberty there in Rowland to see what’s happening in his town!!!
James was preceded in death by his parents,three brothers; Arlee Bethea, Wright Bethea Jr and John Bethea; one sister Sadie McNair.
Although he is physically out of the sight of those who loved him most, he will always remain in the hearts of his loving family. His wife Louise Ladson, Children :Willie F. Love (Lovette) Stephen Bethea ; Charles Ladson (Yvonne) Albert Ladson, James Ladson, Elizabeth Elliott (Pedro) Matthew Green (Delmescia) . Grandchildren: Deanna Benson, Tyler Willie Love, Maverick Kennebrew, Adrian Kennebrew, Jordan Bethea , Xander Love, Xavier Love and Zakayla Green, Italy Green, Amazynn Green, Cierra Ladson, Brittany Ladson, Matthew Allen Ladson. His brother, Clarence Bethea and sister Martha Anna McAfee , Hattie Mae Perry (Albert) raised as a sister, two nieces: Nicole Moses and Erica McQueen and a host of other relatives and friends.
