Mr. Larry Antonio Ford was the second youngest child born to the late Mr. Glover Ford and Mrs. Elsie Mae Love Ford. He entered into eternal rest on April 21, 2018 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina. He was 49 years old. Two of his siblings, Cathy Ford and Darrel Ford preceded him in death.
Larry was converted and joined Union African Methodist Episcopal Church at an early age where he served faithfully. He served on the church youth usher board and was always willing to do the work of the Lord.
Larry was a 1986 graduate of Fairmont High School in Fairmont, North Carolina. After graduation, Larry became really serious about agriculture and decided to make it a career. Larry took advantage of the training from his hero, none other than his father and really learned the in’s and out’s of producing the best crops, and the best vegetables. He became an avid tobacco and vegetable farmer and was blessed to form a tobacco business with his brother, Ronnie. This collaboration with his brother was successful for ten years, bringing him much joy. Larry made the transition from tobacco farming to vegetable farming and was very successful in this new endeavor.His name became a household word when it came to local grown fresh vegetables for the surrounding communities of North and South Carolina. Larry had a passion for people and enjoyed a special relationship with his family.
Larry will be missed by everyone he came in contact with because he never met a stranger. His loving memories will be cherished by a loving daughter, NaTasha Hayes and grandson Keawe Leach of Fairmont, North Carolina; a devoted mother Mrs.Elsie Mae Ford of Fairmont, North Carolina; five brothers; Ronnie Ford of Fairmont, North Carolina; Carey L. (Pamela) Ford of Baton Rouge, Louisiana ; Donald Ford of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; Albert E. (Andrea) Ford of Lake View, South Carolina; and Glover (KaTonyia) Ford Jr. of Elm City, North Carolina; two aunts, Mrs.Elizabeth Sealy of New York City, New York and Mrs. Mary Ethel Love of Fairmont, North Carolina; one uncle, Harrison Love of Fairmont, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
