A Time To Be Born

Mr. Ray Anthony Washington   was born to the late Mr. James  A. and Mrs. Sarah Lee McCollum Washington on August 15, 1953 in Dillon County, South Carolina.

A Time To Rest

Ray closed the final chapter of his earthly life on Sunday , May 26, 2019 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton, NC.

A Time to Learn, Work and  Serve

Ray attended Rowland High School in Rowland.  After high school he moved to New York to live with family and was employed with Criscione Designs, which was  an upscale designers shop on 5th Avenue in New York, New York.  He worked as a sequined cutter which was the material they used to make gowns for the upper-class and the singers and movie stars.  After several years of working there he moved back “down south” . That line of clothing is still in  business today.

He loved to serve others. He did so by utilizing his excellent skills in the kitchen and on the “Grill”.   He was friendly and always had a smile.  His heart was made of gold and was as big as the sky.  He was a loving brother, uncle, friend, and just a good “Guy”.     His cheerful and friendly presence is going to be missed in Rowland around “Stones” and at the Welcome Center.

Ray now adds his link in the chain of death to those gone on before him , namely his parents ,  and five brothers, James, “Sonny” , Peter, John  “Johnnie”, Eugene “Gene”, and Marvin Washington and one sister Lillian Smith.
