Mrs. Geraldine Willis Jones, daughter of the late Mr. Lucius Pegues and the late Mrs. Annie Bell Willis Pegues was born on May 2, 1942 in Scotland County, North Carolina. On March 23, 2019 the death angel eased into her room a Southeastern Health in Lumberton and whispered, Thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord. “She got her wings”.
Geraldine lived in New Jersey with her husband Richard. Her children were raised there. While in Jersey she worked many jobs; Newark Police Department; CAN Nurse in New Jersey, Helicopter Emergency Technician, Certified Child Day care Attendant; Geriatric Nurse Technician, Founder of New Jerusalem Youth Counseling Center; She was the Founder of Upper Room Baptist Church in Jersey; Certified Clerk Typist; Attended Essex College of Business; Received a Bachelor’s Degree from Ambassador Bible College.
After she and her husband Richard retired they moved back “Down South” to Fairmont. They joined First Baptist Church North Main Street in Fairmont and served in many capacities. She was a member of the adult Sunday School Class, She also taught Sunday school for one of the children classes. She loved to sing and sang on several choirs ; she was the president of the Mass Choir , President of the Pastors Aid for a while and was also a Deaconess. She also joined the Order of Eastern Star in Fairmont.
Her last accomplishment of Christian Service was becoming an Evangelist. She enjoyed face booking daily scriptures and thoughts for the day to her friends and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ every way she could.
She leaves to cherish precious memories of great times together, 2 Sons 1 Sgt. Ricky D. Willis of Indiana and Retired Acting Chief of Fairmont Police Department Darren Jones of Fairmont, NC; one daughter Prophetess Shelia R. Ray of Fairmont, NC; 7 grand-Daughters; 3 Grandsons 12 Great grandchildren . Siblings Alton Willie, Bobby Bill Brown, Linda Brown Gee, John Brown, Barbara Brown, Deborah Brown, Ronnie Brown and Tim Brown; Her Aunt Willie Mae Willis Brown, one sister-in-law Dr. Martine Spencer-Granberg and two brothers-in-law, Algie Jones and James Granberg.
