Mrs. Maggie Levy Fikes of Durham, North Carolina formerly of Rowland passed away peacefully early Friday morning, March 15, 2019 at PruittHealth. She was blessed with 94 golden years. Mrs. Fikes, the daughter of the late Mr. Luther Thompson and the late Mrs. Lucy Graham Thompson was born on February 27, 1924 in Robeson County North Carolina.

Maggie attended Southside High School in Rowland. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, was baptized and joined Beauty Spot United Methodist  Church  where she remained a member until the end.  During her christian service at Beauty Spot she served on every committee in the church.  She loved Beauty Spot and worked faithfully until her health declined.  She especially loved singing with the senior choir. She was also a faithful member of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter #133.

Maggie was united in holy matrimony to the late James E. Fikes.  They shared life together for fifty years.  She had a passion for working in the flower garden, fishing and baking.  She often would bake cakes and banana puddings and gift them to family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,  two siblings, Sarah T. Bullard, and Willie Thompson; two grandchildren Arthur J Brunson and Angela R. Lenoir.

Although she is out of our physical sight she will remain forever in the hearths of those who loved her  most; her two daughters;  Angela Brunson (Arthur) of Durham, NC,;  Lillie Lutherene McQuaige (William) of Rowland, N.C. ; Foster Son / Nephew James L. Thompson (Rose) of Charlotte, N.C.; One Step-daughter, Yolanda North of New York, NY,;  three step-sons; Hollis Fikes, New York, NY; Don Fikes (Rebecca) of Mitchellville, MD., Dennis Fikes (Doris) of Philadelphia, P.A. ; Two Grand-daughters, Vanessa McAllister (Jason Sr.) of Newburgh, N.Y., Danita Lachole Oshunsanya (Kazzem) of Greensboro, NC; a goddaughter, Jamonica Watson;  Seven great-grand children; Jalisa, Jason, Kazzem J , Jordon, Jessica, Andrea, Jason Lenoir, six step grandchildren  a host of nieces and nephews  cousins and friends. One special cousin, Mr. Counsel Graham.

The funeral will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday March 23rd at Beauty Spot United Methodist Church, Beauty Spot Church Road in Rowland. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church...Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
