Mr. Roy Floyd Jr. of Fairmont, North Carolina was born on August 15, 1938 to the late Lee Roy Floyd and Elsie Williams. He was raised by his father and Artense Floyd.  Roy grew up in Fairmont, finished high school at Rosenwald High and started his working career in the textile industry.  He was a Tubular Specialist.

He passed away in the early hours of Sunday October 21, 2018 in his home.  Roy was always young at heart and lived a happy cheerful life.  As a youngster he confessed Christ as his personal Savior and joined  the church.

Mr. Roy married Patricia Baldwin  and they enjoyed many good  years.  They made their home in Fairmont, NC. He was an excellent provider for his wife and family.  He was very proud of his children grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by, one grandchild Tykeem Floyd, his parents, one sister Ruth H. Byrd

Although he will be out of our sight physically, Mr. Roy’s  memory will always remain in the hearts of those who loved him most;   his wife, Patricia of the home;   one son,  Roy Floyd (Virginia) of Red Springs, NC; Six daughters,  Denise Hill of Fairmont, Jacqueline Smith , Andrea Floyd Smith, Mary Alice Smith (Dennis) of South Carolina ;  Patrice Preston (Lamont) of Texas and Veronica Floyd of Fairmont;   two sisters; Agnes Hubbard of Fayetteville, NC and Annie Pearl McCallum of Manchester, New York: Two Brothers: Gavin Floyd of Fairmont, NC , James Floyd of Spring Valley, NY.  18 Grandchildren;12 Great Grandchildren and 2 Gt.Gt. Grandchildren.  8 Sisters-in law and 7 brothers-in-law; Hospice nurses Buffey and Chasity and many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service is 1:00 PM Saturday at St. John AME Church in Fairmont. Visitation is also Saturday one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will follow in the Fairmont Cemetery with Dove Ceremony.
